10,000 Trees Program

Over the past several years the City of Columbia and Columbia Green partnered to plant 10,000 trees to bring beauty and life to our communities. The trees increase shade, improve air and water quality, provide homes for wildlife and reduce our overall carbon footprint. With the help of Mayor Steve Benjamin and City Staff, the ceremonial 10,000th tree was planted at Riverfront Park on November 7, 2019. To commemorate this special event, Mayor Steve Benjamin also declared November 7 Columbia Green Day.
